Cycle Alberni REPORT

Submitted by Cycle Alberni Chair – John Mayba

Cycle Alberni has been involved in a number of initiatives during the past year including:

  1. Spring and Fall GoByBike weeks which have been “bike and register your Kms on line” due to Covid. We hope to return to our familiar public events when health restrictions are lifted.
  2. Registering our input in the City’s review of 2 hazardous intersections. We are happy that Council has decided to make changes to the intersections at 10th and Redford and 10th and Dunbar which are hoped to make them more cycling and pedestrian safe.
  3. We helped to inaugurate the use of the new AVTT bike valet at this year’s Fall Fair. It worked great!
  4. We are currently in the process of providing input to the public consultation process for the proposed Quay to Quay bike and pedestrian paths.
  5. As governments at all levels begin to pay more attention to the need for active transportation we are hopeful that our infrastructure requirements will be met and that more people will start walking and riding.

Happy Cycling!
