New Farmers Market in Nanaimo

Have friends on the East Coast looking for local food? There is another Farmers Market starting up this Saturday in Nanaimo at Nanaimo North Town Centre! (Rutherford Mall)

I just received this email from a friend of mine… please do pass along the news. Local Food gathers more steam!

Hi all!
My first farmers market is this Saturday!
For those of you who don’t know yet, I’m the Market Manager for the Our Neighbourhood Farmers Market that runs every Saturday at Nanaimo North Town Centre from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm. It’s an extremely fun position and I get to contribute to something I’m really passionate about; eating locally grown, sustainable, ethically raised food!
This Saturday is our first farmers market of the season. I’d like to invite you out to see what it’s all about. There will be live entertainment and lots of vendors with interesting products!
I’ve attached one of our posters if you have anywhere you’re able to post it.
Thanks all! Hope to see you there. 😀

“I Eat Locally Grown”

(By Edna Cox)

The AVTTS Food Group and local farmers Bill Thomson and Bob Collins have developed and unveiled a new bumper sticker in support of local agriculture: “I EAT LOCALLY GROWN”. So whether you’re a grower, a backyard urban gardener, or a frequenter of the Saturday Farmers’ Markets at Harbour Quay and Arrowvale, you can now let everyone know that you support the valley’s home-grown foods.
The suggested contribution for each sticker is just one dollar.. Watch for them at the Saturday Markets —- and on a bumper in your neighbourhood. It’s one more way to show your support for local food production.
