Report from Ocean Friendly”

OFPA will host a Somass Estuary cleanup with Tammi Greenwood’s class from Haahuupayak School on Friday, October 6, 2023 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.  Access to the site has been confirmed by the City.

An exciting change for this cleanup will be a guided tour of the new wastewater system hosted by Trevor from the City.

The students will participate in the cleanup, bear aware instruction, and sortation of debris for the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup data collection as well as the facility tour and a lesson about the importance of the estuary to salmon and other critters.

A community cleanup event is tentatively planned for October.  Details TBA.
